what they don't tell you

girnar's famous 9,999 steps is a religious number, not a count. the real breakdown is about 5,000 to ambaji and 8,000 to dattatreya, and every hundredth step to ambaji is painted with its number so you can audit it yourself. the ropeway ends at ambaji, not at the top — the dattatreya summit is still yours to climb.
